The intelligent energy network of the future
11 European companies cooperate in the EU funded project Web2Energy
The price of electricity changes each hour but the consumer pays the same tariff all the time. Wind and solar based renewable sources are volatile and often they feed into the grid in contradiction to the current electricity demand. Disturbances in the distribution network often cause supply interruptions with an average duration of about 1 hour. How can these interruptions be shorted down to minutes?
All these problems can be advantageously solved today by so-called Smart Grids. HSE AG works together in a European consortium with several partners to establish a Smart Grid in their supply area through installation of communication links to power producers, grid terminals and the consumers.
